Understanding Seaweed Income in a Simple Way

This page explains basic educational examples of how seaweed buying, selling, and income computation may work.

Important Note

This page is for educational information only. It does not promise income, guaranteed profit, investment return, or fixed earnings. The examples below are simple illustrations to help visitors understand the process.

BASIC FORMULA

Basic Buy-and-Sell Formula

The basic idea of seaweed buy-and-sell is simple. Capital is divided by the buying price per kilo to know how many kilos can be bought. Those kilos are then multiplied by the selling price per kilo to know the possible gross sales. From the gross sales, capital and expenses are subtracted to see the possible net profit.

CAPITAL

Capital and Buying Price

Capital is the money used to buy dried seaweed from farmers or small collectors. The buying price per kilo affects how many kilos the capital can cover. A lower buying price allows more kilos, while a higher buying price means fewer kilos.

KILOS

Kilos Bought

The number of kilos bought is one of the most important numbers. It depends on the capital, the buying price, and the quality of the seaweed. Farmers usually weigh the seaweed carefully before any transaction.

SELLING

Selling Price and Additional Earning

Selling price is the price offered by the next buyer. The difference between the selling price and the buying price is the possible additional earning per kilo. Even a small difference per kilo can matter when many kilos are involved.

EXPENSES

Expenses and Net Profit

Expenses may include transportation, storage, handling, drying, and other costs. Net profit is what remains after all expenses are subtracted from the gross sales. Real expenses may change depending on the day, distance, and weather.

QUALITY

Why Seaweed Quality Matters

The class or quality of seaweed affects both buying and selling price. Well-dried, clean seaweed usually has a better price. Wet, dirty, or mixed seaweed may receive a lower price from buyers.

Formula

Simple Computation

Capital ÷ Buying Price per Kilo = Kilos Bought
Kilos Bought × Selling Price per Kilo = Gross Sales
Gross Sales − Capital Used − Expenses = Net Profit

Sample Computation Area

Example: ₱10,000 capital

Buying price

₱16 / kg

Selling price

₱18 / kg

Difference / kg

₱2

Kilos bought

₱10,000 ÷ ₱16 = 625 kg

Gross sales

625 × ₱18 = ₱11,250

Possible net (no expenses)

₱11,250 − ₱10,000 = ₱1,250

Real numbers will change depending on expenses, seaweed quality, drying condition, weather, transport, and buyer demand.
